Gary Dean Luft, a well-respected figure in the Lincoln community, passed away on October 29, 2025, leaving a legacy of dedication, intelligence, and kindness that will not be forgotten.
Born on September 9, 1957, in Lincoln, Nebraska, Gary's life was a testament to his smart, dedicated, supportive, and loving nature. Gary was known for his meticulous work as an Engineer at BNSF Railroad before his retirement. His dedication and smart problem-solving skills were apparent in every project he undertook, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
Apart from his professional accomplishments, Gary was an enthusiastic pilot who loved the thrill of soaring in the skies above Nebraska. His supportive nature and love for aviation were a source of great joy and inspiration for those who knew him.
In his personal life, Gary was a loving soul, never married, and deeply cherished by his four brothers: Dennis, Rodney, Mike, and Steve Luft. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herschal Luft Jr. and Vera Luft. His heartfelt laughter, wise advice, and unconditional support will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The graveside service for Gary was held on November 4, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Fairview Cemetery located at 8400 Adams Street, Lincoln, Nebraska, 68507. The event was a beautiful tribute to a life well-lived, celebrating Gary's unique qualities and accomplishments.
